what a mess

what a mess

Kindy kids are just plain messy there’s no two ways about it. Cutting, pasting, colouring, moulding. And they can be quiet when concentrating and noisy when playing. I’ve lost my beloved sewing room to a kindy/playroom for the two younger boys when the older boys need a little more quiet for concentrating on some subjects. So far it seems to be working – however having my sewing room in the lounge room bothers me.
We have had news that the property we live on has been sold and so we won’t know if we can stay here. I think I’ll try to hold on another re-arrange till we know for sure.

rock hounding

rock hounding

Malachi’s science so far has been all about rocks. One day we ventured down into the furtherest point of the backyard which has a creek running down through it. The walk took us more than an hour to achieve – crossing off science and PE all in one hit. We were all very exhausted but it was well worth it – such an amazing place we live in.

Ishmael Swimming

Ishmael Swimming

When homeschooling it doesn’t mean the other children need to miss out on other activities.
On thursday mornings we drive into town for Ishmael’s swimming lessons and we take the easiest subject with us – Maths, it’s just one bag with books, pencils and erasers.
It’s nice to change the scenery and I am very very happy that Ishmael is learning such an essential skill on a weekly basis.

A visitor

A visitor

We have about 21 chickens now – too many, and we’ve been hoping for a visit from a local snake for dinner. This one came so we were a bit excited by the prospect of declining chicken stocks but after he got trampled by the goats he sled away and we haven’t seen him since. I am wondering if the goats seem to somehow protect the chickens – the smell of the goats urine is quite potent. Anyhow our chicken numbers have stayed the same for now.

Our home school room in a old hall we call home for a time

Our home school room

My friends know me well enough to know that my furniture never stays in the same position for longer than a couple of months. I’m actually surprised that nobody has every tried to sit on a chair and ended up on the ground, because I’ve moved it – in my efforts to make the room work better for a period of time. With a growing family, needs change and space is used differently. I should probably better spend my time dusting and cleaning rather than re-arranging ..buuut when I clean I start to clean under things and this then leads to moving it to clean better, the re-arranging takes over and I forget I was ever cleaning in the first place. Is this a problem I should see someone about? Maybe my husband thinks so when he’s looking for something but from last month to this month it has a new home.

Yes I sure am hard to live with and I should try to curb my habits in this area otherwise I’m going to drive the entire household crazy in time.
